Turkish Super Lig heavyweights Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are locked in a fierce battle to secure the services of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

With the transfer window already closed across Europe’s top leagues, Turkey remains one of the few destinations open for business until September 12.

This has left Lookman’s future in limbo as both Istanbul giants push to strike a deal with Atalanta.

Reports from Turkey suggest Galatasaray are particularly keen, with ambitions of pairing Lookman alongside Victor Osimhen to form a potent all-Nigerian frontline.

The club is said to have explored a package worth around €55m (£46m/$60m), though no formal bid has yet been tabled.

Fenerbahce, meanwhile, are attempting to entice the Super Eagles star with a four-year contract valued at approximately €6m per season.

Atalanta, however, remains resolute. The Serie A side insists that Lookman will only be allowed to leave on a permanent transfer, with a valuation set at no less than €50m.

Lookman’s relationship with the club has soured in recent weeks, as he has been training alone following Atalanta’s refusal to accept an offer from Inter Milan earlier in the summer.
