English Championship side Ipswich Town have confirmed the signing of Nigerian forward Chuba Akpom on a season-long loan from Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The 29-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at French Ligue 1 outfit Lille, making his UEFA Champions League debut, brings a wealth of experience to Portman Road, having previously featured in the Championship for Middlesbrough, Brighton, Hull City, and Nottingham Forest.
Ipswich announced the deal via their official social media platforms, stating: "The Club is excited to announce the signing of striker Chuba Akpom on a season-long loan from Ajax."
A product of the Arsenal youth academy, Akpom enjoyed loan spells at Brentford, Coventry City, Hull, and Brighton before moving abroad to Belgian side Sint-Truiden in early 2018.
Later that year, he signed for Greek club PAOK Salonika, scoring 14 goals over two seasons. In September 2020, Akpom returned to England with Middlesbrough, where he later enjoyed a prolific 2022/23 campaign netting 28 Championship goals, winning the Golden Boot, and earning a summer move to Ajax.
He scored 21 times for the Dutch club before his January 2025 switch to Lille.
