Transfer Update: Nottingham Forest Table Offer For Awoniyi

After a splendid outing in the just concluded German Bundesliga season, Nigeria's Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi is likely to join the legion of Nigeria players in the English Premier League, BSNsports.com.ng understands.

Awoniyi joined Bundesliga side Union Berlin permanently last summer from Liverpool after having a successful loan spell with the club.

He stole the headlines last season with his amazing performance coupled with goals to ensure that Union Berlin secured a place in the UEFA Europa League next season.

Newly promoted English Premier League club Nottingham Forest have opened discussion with the German club for the Nigeria international who has £20 million as release clause in his contract.

Former Premier League champion Liverpool who sold Awoniyi to Union Berlin was unable to use him after they failed to get him the compulsory work permit.

Forest could secure a work permit for the lanky striker this time having represented and played for Nigeria in the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon earlier in the year.
