Transfer Update: Onyedika Is Going Nowhere – Club Brugge Boss Insists

Sampson Adedeji

Club Brugge head coach Ivan Leko has played down reports linking Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika with a move away from the Belgian club, insisting the Nigerian international is not leaving anytime soon, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Onyedika has recently been the subject of transfer speculation, with Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray reportedly monitoring his situation ahead of the ongoing transfer window.

However, Leko has dismissed the rumours, stating clearly that he has not been informed of any plans to sell the midfielder. Me

“Nobody told me he’s leaving,” Leko was quoted as saying by Voetbalnieuws.

The Club Brugge boss further explained that Onyedika remains fully integrated with the squad and is focused on his duties at the club.

“What I’ve seen? He’s training with us again, he’s in good spirits, and he’s behaving normally. I see no reason why Rapha can’t play. He’ll be in the squad,” Leko added.

While acknowledging the ongoing speculation surrounding transfers, the experienced coach stressed that he remains calm and unconcerned about the situation.

“People are chattering and speculating about transfers, but I’m staying calm. We’ll see what happens. We’ll only know more when the transfer window is over. But I’m not worried about Onyedika. I’ve been in football for thirty years: I’m not stupid,” he concluded.

Onyedika has been a key figure for Club Brugge since joining the club, and Leko’s comments suggest the Belgian side are keen to retain the services of the Nigerian midfielder despite growing interest from abroad.
