Nigeria's Super Eagles defender Shehu Abdullahi is set to join Portuguese Primera Liga club Chaves as a free agent, BSNSports.com.ng understands.

The former Kano Pillars defender left the Cyprus Premier League club Omonia Nicosia at the end of last season following the expiration of his contract.

The Portuguese club Chaves is willing to sign the Nigerian defender who can also play as a midfielder after the departure of their key player Kevin Pina.

According to the Portuguese Liga news outlet O'Jogo, all the arrangements have been done but the stumbling block to the deal presently is the wages Abdullahi is requesting.

The former Bursaspor player is not new to the Portuguese league having represented União da Madeira in the 2015/2016 season.
