Nigeria's Super Eagles and Girondin Bordeaux striker Josh Maja is on the verge of joining the English Championship side Birmingham City FC on a 5-year deal, BSNsports.com.ng has gathered.

Maja spent last season on loan with Stoke City but choose to return to his parent club despite the Potters trying to have him on a permanent deal.

The French side is having a serious financial challenge having suffered relegation to the second tier of the league due to the crisis.

The young striker is among the highest earners in the club and they were looking for ways to reduce the wage bill of the team.

According to a report, Birmingham City has agreed to sign Maja on a 5-year contract and he's expected to have his medical on Wednesday evening in England.

Maja made his debut for Super Eagles in an international friendly against Ukraine.
