Transfer Update: Trabzonspor Targets Nigerian-Born Forward Kazeem Olaigbe

Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor is actively working to bolster its squad ahead of the 2025/2026 season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
After finishing outside the top four last season, the former champions are determined to reclaim a European spot, and the management has now turned its attention to young forward Kazeem Olaigbe of French Ligue 1 club Rennes.
Born in Belgium to Nigerian parents, Olaigbe has previously represented Belgium at the U20 level but remains eligible to play for Nigeria in future competitions.
The 21-year-old began his professional career at Belgian giants Anderlecht before moving to Premier League club Southampton in 2019.
He later spent the 2022/2023 season on loan at Scottish side Ross County, where he made 19 appearances across all competitions.
Olaigbe featured in 10 Ligue 1 matches for Rennes last season, though he failed to find the back of the net.
Trabzonspor reportedly views him as a suitable replacement for injury-prone Andriy Zubkov and values his creative abilities in the attacking third.
If the deal goes through, Olaigbe will join fellow Nigerians Paul Onuachu and Anthony Nwakaeme at Trabzonspor.
The club finished 7th in the league last season with 51 points from 36 games and ended as runners-up in the Turkish Cup, losing to Galatasaray in the final.
