Transfer Update: Wrexham Manager Reveals Why They Signed Nigerian Goalkeeper

The manager of the newly promoted League One side Wrexham Phil Parkison has revealed the reason they decided to sign Nigerian-eligible goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The youngster spent last season on loan with the club from the Premier League side Arsenal.

He was one of the players released by Arsenal this summer and Wrexham decided to catch on the opportunity.

The club decided to give him a 3-year contract on Saturday and is expected to be vital for the club in League One in the new season.

"Arthur was outstanding for us last year, and since the season finished we’ve worked hard to secure the signing.

“It’s great credit to all the work that has gone on behind the scenes because it’s never straightforward but we’ve always said it’s important to have perseverance to try and get your number one target – and Arthur certainly was that.

“It’s a great first signing of the summer for us.”

The goalkeeper made 40 appearances across all competitions for the Red Dragons keeping 16 clean sheets.
