U-17 WAFU B: Ghana Vs Nigeria: Why I Am Worried - Golden Eaglets Coach

Golden Eaglets head coach, Nduka Ugbade has given a reason why he is worried about the Golden Eaglets in their 2022 West African Football Union (WAFU B) U17 group opener against Ghana, BSNSports.com.ng can report.


Ugbade said he is worried because the five-time World champions consists of players that have not played in a major competition that has up to 20,000 or 30,000 fans.


He said this while speaking during an exclusive interview with BSN Sports ahead of today's group A opener against the hosts, Ghana which kicks off at 4 pm.


He said, "I'm practically worried because most of these guys have not played in stadium where you have 20000 to 30000 fans in major competition.


He however said they have been prepared psychologically to handle the situation and come out victorious in today match.

 "Some of this things affect them but I have been preparing them psychologically considering what they might be facing in Ghana because I know when Nigeria is playing against them their stadium will be filled with the expectations of what is going to happen between the two country as on rivalry."


Nigeria is pitted group A with the hosts, Ghana and Togo while group B consists of Ivory Coast, Benin Republic, Burkina Faso and Niger Republic.


The tournament will be held in the Central Regional Capital from Saturday June 11 to Friday, June 24, 2022, and We serve as a qualifier for the U17 African Nations Cup.


The WAFU B finalists will represent West African countries at the U17 AFCON to be hosted by Algeria in 2023.
