U17 AFCON: Ex-Eagles Defender Lament Golden Eaglets Ouster

Former Nigeria Super Eagles defender Elderson Echejile has lamented on the ouster of the Golden Eaglets from the ongoing U17 African Cup of Nations in Algeria and also the FIFA World Cup, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 5-time world champions crashed out of the competition on Thursday after they lost 1-2 to their counterpart from Burkina Faso in a keenly contested encounter.

Former AS Monaco of France players expressed his sadness through his social media platform, Twitter and hopes the youngsters bounced back in the future.

"Painful exit of our young U17 team, what are we missing? Or we leave it to you can,t win always.

"These young players need to experience world football, at this stage, it helps their development", he said.

Echejile was part of the Super Eagles players that passed through the underage category.

He represented Nigeria at the 2007 FIFA U20 World Cup in Canada where they finished in the quarter-final.
