U17 AFCON: Junior Teranga Lions Join Golden Eaglets In Algeria

Teams continue to secure their spot in the 2023 U17 African Cup of Nations in Algeria as the regional championship gradually round up, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

A few months ago, Nigeria's Golden Eaglet secured its passage to the competition after winning the WAFU tournament hosted in Cape Coast, Ghana.

The latest country to qualify is the Junior Teranga Lions of Senegal after they broke the heart of Sierra Leone 6-5 via a penalty shoot-out.

The semi-final of the WAFU A tournament between the two teams ended goalless after both sides shows composure and resilience.

Senegal prevailed at the end of the day and qualified for the final, they will face Mali who has also picked the qualification ticket in the final.

Mali in its semi-final defeated the host Mauritania 2-0.

The WAFU A region will produce two teams in the competition slated for Algeria next year.
