Following the political tension between Algeria and Morocco, the Moroccan U17 team is set to pull out of the African Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng report.

The Moroccan men's senior team Atlas Lions refused to take part in the 2022 Championship of African Nations after their flight was refused to land in Algiers the capital of Algeria.

The Confederation of African Football last weekend refused to punish both nations and instead warned them and other member associations to adhere strictly to the laid down rules.

According to the update coming from Morocco on Monday afternoon, the president of the Federal Royal Football of Morocco Faouzi Lekjaa has reported the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sports ( CAS) and insisted that Algeria should be punished.

He further stated that Algeria should be punished and if not they pull out of the upcoming U17 competition that will take place in Algeria in April.

â€œOur participation in the AFCON U17 will be through our exclusive official carrier, Royal Moroccan Airlines.”

And if it happened like at CHAN where we were held back from doing so, then our decision will be once again not to participate", he said.

Apart from Morocco, South Africa and Zambia are the two other teams in the group.
