U17 AFCON: Senegal Thrash Algeria, Reach Quarter Final For The First Time

The Young Teranga Lions of Senegal have qualified for the quarter-final for the first time in the U17 African Cup of Nations after walloping the host Algeria on Tuesday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Algeria recorded a comfortable 2-0 win over Somalia their opening game while Senegal had to work extra hard to edge Congo by a lone goal.

However, in their second group game involving the host, Algeria and Senegal today, Amara Diouf put Senegal ahead in the first half before completing his brace from the penalty spot in the second half.

Just before the end of the game, Mamadou Sawane added the 3rd goal to make a comprehensive 3-0 over the host.

With six points from two matches, Senegal is the first country to qualify for the quarter-final of the U17 AFCON presently going on in Algeria.
