Even though they lost to Morocco, coach Nduka Ugbade has said he is proud of his Golden Eaglets, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 2-time champions suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to the North African in the second group game played on Wednesday in Constantine.

During a post-match conference, the former Nigeria international praised his players and said things like that happens in football sometimes.

“Everything worked well. We controlled the game but tactically Morocco controlled the outcome.

We had a few mistakes as well but we created so many chances, and the only problem is that we couldn’t score.

“It does happen in football. It is not a strange thing, but it is important to correct and ensure we are more efficient in front of the goal.

"We must be more efficient with the chances we have. We will try to look for some different ways tactically to impact the outcome of the game. We have a chance, but also, that chance can fade away. We have to work hard,” he concluded.

Nigeria last won the U17 AFCON title in 2007.
