U17 WAFU B : Four takeaways from Nigeria's 3-1 win over Togo

The Nigeria U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets defeated Togo 3-1 on Tuesday evening to qualify for the semifinals of the WAFU U-17 Tournament in Cape Coast.

The Golden Eaglets finishing off the game in grand style

Just as they have done in their first game against Ghana, the Golden Eaglets had already put the game to bed in the early minutes of the game. They respect their opponents but most importantly, they are always the first team to score the goals.

Iyede and Williams had already scored two early goals within the first 25 minutes of the game. The Golden Eaglets defended so well until Ahouankpo scored a great free-kick to give Togo an hope of getting an equalizer. Eke scored the third game to finish up the game in a grand style.

Pressure Of The Eaglets

When not in possession of the ball, the Golden Eaglets harried the opposition and it put the opponents under pressure which forced a, lot of errors by the Francophone side.

The Golden Eaglets are young lads within the age group of 17

There has been some sort of controversy since the Golden Eaglets defeated Ghana's young Black starlet a few days ago. There are talks on Nduka Ugbade boys being older fellas.

After observing the faces of these lads, it's pretty clear that this is a conspiracy against Nigeria. The lads are young and the oldest person can only be 17 years old. When players are properly being trained from the grassroots, they become very good and unmatchable.

Eaglets Discipline

The Golden Eaglets committed 33 fouls in the game while Togo had 19 fouls in the referee's book.

Nduka Ugbade's boys must be wary of their defensive frailties and not concede unnecessary fouls.

Playmaker Ebube Okere who found Precious Williams for the second goal was taken off because he had been booked and his substitution affected the creativity in the midfield.
