The head coach of Nigeria U17 national team, Nduka Ugbade says his target is to qualify Nigeria for the FIFA U17 World Cup in Peru, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Ugbade in an exclusive interview with BSN Sports admitted that the task will not be easy as their first match against Ghana on Saturday is a must win game.

"My intention is to qualify Nigeria for the World cup in Peru and to win each of the matches so that the qualification becomes guaranteed. He told BSN Sports.

He added, "There are a lot of pressure because the battle line is drawn, in the next four days we will be on the pitch playing Ghana at 4pm. I know the match is very tensed and I know we are prepared. Though, only three things can happen, it is either you win, draw or lose but I know we cant lose again Ghana. But winning I can give 80 percent then 20 percent to draw.

Nigeria is pitted in group A with the hosts, Ghana and Togo while group B consists of Ivory Coast, Benin Republic, Burkina Faso and Niger Republic.

The tournament will be held in the Central Regional Capital from Saturday, June 11 to Friday, June 24, 2022, and will serve as qualifier for the U17 African Nations Cup.

The WAFU B finalists will represent West African at the U17 AFCON to be hosted by Algeria in 2023.
