Despite crashing out of the competition, the coach of Flamingos, Bankole Olowookere, has said he is proud of his players, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian side suffered a 2-0 defeat to the United States to bow out of the 2024 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup in the Dominican Republic.

The coach refused to blame the players; instead applauded them and hoped for better luck next time.

"I'm so proud of the girls; they've given it their best, come all this way, and they are kids who are developing. They've given their best, but maybe their best was not good enough".

"To my fellow Nigerians, we can go beyond this level and we will try and be better next time", he said.
