U20 AFCON: All You Need To Know About Flying Eagles Vs Morocco – Match Preview, Date & Kickoff Time

By Admin

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria are gearing up for a pivotal showdown against Morocco in their second Group B match at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations. With both teams securing wins in their opening games, Sunday’s clash at the 30 June Air Defence Stadium in Cairo promises to be a top-of-the-table thriller.

Nigeria kicked off their campaign with a narrow but hard-earned 1-0 victory over Tunisia. Auwal Ibrahim netted the decisive goal in the 38th minute, sealing three crucial points for the Flying Eagles.

The match was a gritty affair, with Nigeria showing strong defensive organization and midfield control. Head coach Aliyu Zubairu will be pleased with the efforts of centre-backs Daniel Bameyi and Adamu Maigari, who stood firm against Tunisia’s late push. Goalkeeper Olawale Oremade also played a key role, making critical saves to preserve the lead.

Midfielders Divine Oliseh and Clinton Jephta were instrumental in dictating play, particularly in the first half. However, Nigeria’s energy waned in the second period, a concern Zubairu will need to address ahead of the clash with Morocco, who are known for their pace and attacking flair.

Morocco enter the match on the back of a dramatic 3-2 win over Kenya. While their attacking prowess was evident, they also showed weaknesses at the back—gaps Nigeria could potentially exploit.

Morocco’s quick movement and sharpness in the final third will test the Flying Eagles’ defensive mettle.

This match is shaping up as a contrast of footballing styles—Nigeria’s physical, disciplined play versus Morocco’s technical and fluid approach.

With seven U-20 AFCON titles to their name, Nigeria will rely on their rich history and tournament experience as they aim to move a step closer to the quarter-finals.

The stakes are high, with the winner likely securing a spot in the knockout stage. Nigeria will also be looking to settle a score after losing 2-0 to Morocco in the 2013 edition of the tournament.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6 PM Nigerian time on Sunday, May 4.

Can the Flying Eagles overcome Morocco's attacking firepower and take a decisive step toward U-20 AFCON glory?
