Sampson Adedeji

The head coach of Mozambique U20 men team, Dario Monteiro, has expressed his disappointment about his team's defeat to the Flying Eagles of Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Mozambicans crashed out of the competition after suffering a 2-0 defeat to the seven times African champions.

While speaking on the game, Monteiro felt sad about the outcome of the game but admitted that the players are still young and need those experiences to improve their game.

" We are disappointed because we expected to win and at least score but we failed to score so we are disappointed to have conceded two goals outside the box.

" I want to congratulate my boys for their efforts. I think they gave their best in this tournament. We are delighted to be here.

"It's not always that Mozambique qualifies for the AFCON U20, so when you get that experience it's important for our country and our players so that they can have the experience to develop and build. their career.

They're 18, 19, so they need those experiences and they got it and I'm happy about that.

"We hope to be able to come back often and we can afford to do better than this occasion,” he said.

Senegal and Nigeria picked the two quarter finals tickets having ended group A with first and second on the log.
