Sampson Adedeji

Nigeria's Flying Eagles started its campaign in the 2023 U20 African Cup of Nations in Egypt on a losing note as they suffered 1-0 to Young Teranga Lions of Senegal, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian team started the game as the better side but it was the Senegalese that scored through Soulemane Faye before the end of the first stanza.

Flying Eagles continued to press hard through Adams Olalekan, Rilwanu Sarki and Ibrahim Beji Mohammed but they were unable to break down the Senegalese.

The Senegalese team did enough to nullify all the attacking threats of the Flying Eagles to secure the maximum point.

The defeat dropped the Flying Eagles to the bottom of the table with Senegal, Egypt and Mozambique occupying the top 3 spots.
