The Flying Eagles defeated Benin Republic 3-1 in the final to win the country's first title at this level. They defeated Ivory Coast 2-1 in the semis to make it through to the final.

I am happy you beat the Ghana team in your first match, it would probably be a consolation from the painful game that sealed our non-participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. You all are true champions; again defeating Ivory coast and Ghana shows you all are a formidable force African football must reckon with."
Furthermore, Sunday Dare congratulated the National U-17 Women's Team, Flamingoes who beat their Ethiopian counterpart 0-1 in Addis Ababa, as the both countries fight for a sole ticket to the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in India.
Dare said, "our women's team have continued to make us proud at all levels. The run of our U-17 girls in this qualifiers is simply commendable. They've made Nigerians proud with the result in Ethiopia and I'm positive they would finish off the tie in Nigeria.
The Minister will be hosting the victorious Flying Eagles team immediately the team returns on Monday.
