U20 WWC Qualifier: Adukwu Targets Big Win Against Senegal

Ahead of their crucial first-leg clash against Senegal, Nigeria’s Falconets head coach, Moses Adukwu, has declared his team’s intention to secure a commanding victory in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian side will host the Senegalese team at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, in the opening leg of the qualifying fixture, with Adukwu stressing the importance of making home advantage count.

Speaking to journalists on Friday during a media interaction at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta, the Falconets’ coach made it clear that his team would not underestimate their opponents.

“We are not underrating them. One of our main objectives is not to take any opponent for granted. Even in all our friendlies, we always fight to win,” Adukwu said.

He acknowledged the quality of the Senegalese side, describing them as a strong and well-organised team capable of causing problems.

“They (Senegal) have a good team. They are a top side, and we must be ready for a difficult game,” he added.

Adukwu also emphasized the significance of securing a healthy advantage in the first leg, noting the challenge of playing away from home in the return fixture.

“The girls know the importance of this game. We need a big win because we are still going to face them away,” he concluded.

The Falconets will be aiming to dominate proceedings in Abeokuta as they push for a strong position ahead of the second leg in Senegal, in their quest for qualification to the U20 Women’s World Cup.
