Host nation, Costa Rica, former champions, Germany, Australia and New Zealand have been knocked out of the ongoing 2022 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup.
The tournament has been full of sweet-bitter experiences, especially with the display of talent by the youngsters with Nigeria's Falconets being the first team to progress to the Quarterfinal after winning the opening two games, while other teams struggled to win a game.
Also, the tournament has been disappointing for many nations as they failed to meet the expectations of fans.
In Group A, Australia and Host Nation Costa Rica got knocked out of the tournament after finishing in Group A's third and fourth positions respectively. Australia won only the opening game against Costa Rica before losing the remaining two group natches to Brazil and Spain. On the other hand, the host nation Costa Rica failed to win a single match after conceding 13 goals in three group stage games.
In Group B, Germany and New Zealand also exited the tournament after finishing as the bottom two teams. Germany finished the group with three points, while New Zealand had only two points in a very tight group B.
