The dream of Scorpions of Gambia to progress to the next round in the ongoing U20 World Cup in Argentina has become an illusion as they suffered a defeat to Uruguay, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Gambia who finished as the first runner-up in the U20 African Cup of Nations in Egypt topped their group in Argentina with 7 points.

They faced the hard-fighting Uruguay who finished as one of the best losers but the South Americans were a hard nut to crack.

The game which was keenly contested produced 2 red cards as both teams ended the game with 10 men.

After a scoreless first half, Duarte netted the only goal of the game in the 65th minute, and all the efforts of the African side to come back into the proved abortive as it ended 1-0 in favour of Uruguay.
