Nigeria’s Falconets secured qualification to the next round of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after edging past Senegal’s Junior Lionesses 2-1 in Dakar, completing a 3-1 aggregate victory, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Heading into the return leg with a slim 1-0 advantage from the first encounter, the Nigerian side were met with a determined Senegalese team eager to overturn the deficit on home soil.

However, the Falconets demonstrated composure and clinical finishing to silence the hosts.

Nigeria drew first blood in the 19th minute when Chinaza found the back of the net to extend the aggregate lead.

The early breakthrough settled the visitors, who continued to dictate the tempo of the encounter.

Precious Oscar doubled Nigeria’s advantage later in the game, putting the Falconets firmly in control and leaving the Junior Lionesses with a mountain to climb.

Senegal managed to pull one back late on through Sokhna, reducing the deficit and raising hopes of a comeback. But the Falconets held their shape and saw out the contest to claim a 2-1 win on the night.

With a 3-1 aggregate triumph, Nigeria’s Falconets advance confidently to the next round of the qualifiers, keeping their hopes of another appearance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup alive.
