U20WWQ: Malawi Coach Reacts To Defeat Against Nigeria

Malawi U20 women’s coach Maggie Chombo has reacted to her side’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria’s Falconets, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Despite securing a 2-1 victory over the Falconets in the second leg played in Malawi, the Southern Africans were eliminated 3-2 on aggregate after losing the first leg 2-0 in Nigeria.

Speaking after the encounter, Chombo praised her players for their determination throughout the campaign despite falling short of qualification.

“We won the match, but our aim was to qualify and unfortunately, we didn’t make it. I thank the girls for the spirited performance. We have learned a lot, and it was a good campaign,” Chombo said.

Nigeria’s Falconets advanced to the next stage of the qualifiers after doing enough over the two legs to seal qualification.
