The hope of Nigeria's Olympic Eagles to reach the 2023 U23 African Cup of Nations suffered a setback on Wednesday after they were held to a goalless draw by Guinea, BSNSports.com.ng report.

The team under coach Yusuf Salisu has been in camp in the last few days getting ready to face the Junior Syli National.

The Guinean side was drawn bye in the last qualifier after Uganda withdrew from the qualifier

Nigeria on their part defeated Tanzania's Seregenti Boys over the two legs to reach this level.

The game played at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja started with the away side trying to be cautious in their approach to the game.

They almost scored midway into the first half before Omojesu Oguniyi hit the woodwork just before halftime.

The second stanza resumed with Olympic Eagles trying to seize control of the game but Morlaye Cisse boys stood their ground to maintain the scoreline.

Nigeria's Christopher Nweke was sent off on the dot of 90 minutes for a dangerous play as the game ended in a scoreless affair

The Nigeria side will have a mountain to climb when both sides clash again in the second leg slated for Morocco next Tuesday.
