Head coach of Nigeria's U23 team Salisu Yusuf has explained that late preparations and fatigue are the reason the team failed to secure a win in Dare Salam, Tanzania, BSNSports.com.ng report.
After playing a 1-1 draw against Tanzania in Dar Es Salam last weekend the team returned to Nigeria on Sunday and has since commenced preparations for the second leg slated for this weekend.
" Though we didn't have time to prepare, we only have 3 to 4 sessions before the game but I think we were able to create a team that at least no matter the situation can withstand the opposition.
The most important thing is that we didn't lose the game, the players worked so hard, and I believe they will continue to develop as we go on in the competition.
I also believe that the next game will be better than the previous game.
What happened in that game is as a result of fatigue because of the stress we went through during the travels, we arrived in Dare Salam around 8 am and entered the hotel around 11 am.
"I will be focused in the second leg and we will work to score early in the game so that we can rest assured", he said after the team training on Monday."
