U23 AFCON Qualifier: Makanjuola Earns Dream Team Valuable Away Draw

Nigeria's U23 team began their quest to qualify for the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Egypt on an impressive note on Saturday as they secured a valuable away draw against Tanzania, BSNSports.com.ng report.

The team began their preparations for the qualifier a few days ago under coach Salisu Yusuf and some foreign-based players including Success Makanjuola were invited to beef up the team.

The game played at the Dar e Salam on Saturday witnessed both sides sizing each other up in a keenly contested encounter.

It was Nigeria that netted the opening goal of the game in the 29th minute through team captain Makanjuola as Dream Team ended the half with a lead.

The host came back stronger in the second stanza and were able to peg back the Nigeria team.

They hit the post twice before they eventually equalised in the 81st minute of the game.

All the efforts of both sides to score the winning goal proved futile as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

The second leg will come up at the Adamasingba stadium in Ibadan on Saturday, October 29th.
