Uncertainty Over Lekan Salami Stadium Inspection as NPFL, NFF Delay Process

Despite readiness of the Lekan Salami Stadium turf to host Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) the plans for an inspection of the Lekan Salami Stadium have reportedly been put on hold, with the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) yet to proceed with the anticipated review, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

While the exact reason for the delay remains unclear, sources indicate that Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) could be required to play their home matches away from Ibadan pending further developments.

As a temporary measure, the club is set to host this weekend’s fixture against Warri Wolves at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.

The situation has sparked uncertainty over the immediate future of home games at the Lekan Salami Stadium, with fans awaiting official clarification from the relevant football authorities.

Shooting Stars were ordered to stop playing their home matches at the Lekan Salami Stadium due to the poor condition of the pitch on 30 January 2026. The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) declared the playing surface unfit for league fixtures, particularly in light of the league’s broadcast and television standards, and instructed the club to relocate its home games to alternative venues such as the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta or the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
