Union Berlin Celebrates Awoniyi After Beating Nottingham Forest

Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi was the centre point in Saturday's friendly game, as he was celebrated by his former German Bundesliga side who defeated Nottingham Forest in a friendly, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The newly-promoted Premier League side on Saturday lost by a lone goal to Union Berlin in their final pre-season game at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.
The match was an opportunity for Union Berlin faithfuls to show appreciation and good luck to Awoniyi who left for the City Ground this summer for Nottingham Forest who returned to the Premier League after 23-years in the Championship.
Awoniyi was introduced to the Stadion An der Alten Försterei with 15 minutes to go until the match was received with a warm reception, from club President Dirk Zingler, Managing Director of Professional Football Oliver Ruhnert and captain Christopher Trimmel.
Union Berlin summer signing Jordan Siebatcheu put the ball in the net for the first time, assisted by Sheraldo Becker in a match that was watched by 15, 467 fans.
Awoniyi’s first key role in Köpenick after his exit was to block a shot from Paul Jaeckel while Janik Haberer missed at the far-post from the resulting Gießelmann corner kick, prolonged by Robin Knoche’s knockdown.
