Unity Cup: Chelle Watches As Rangers Edge Bendel Insurance In Enugu

Éric Chelle was in attendance at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday as Enugu Rangers defeated Bendel Insurance 2-1 in a Matchday 37 fixture of the Nigeria Premier Football League, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Forward Godwin Obaje scored both goals for Rangers, finding the net in the 25th and 62nd minutes. His second goal came from the penalty spot after Bendel Insurance had drawn level through Owoleiyafah in the 40th minute.

Chelle’s presence at the match forms part of his ongoing assessment of home-based players ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup, an invitational tournament scheduled to take place in London from May 25 to 30, 2026.

The competition will feature Super Eagles alongside the national teams of Zimbabwe, India and Jamaica.

The Franco-Malian tactician has intensified his monitoring of players in the domestic league in recent weeks. He was also present at the clash involving Shooting Stars and Nasarawa United last weekend, and earlier visited the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos to observe more NPFL talents.

Chelle is expected to announce his squad for the tournament later this week.
