English Championship club Wrexham A.F.C. have issued warm congratulations to their goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo after he received an invitation to join Nigeria’s Super Eagles squad for the upcoming Unity Cup tournament, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Although the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is yet to release the official squad list, Wrexham moved quickly on Tuesday to celebrate the news of the 23-year-old shot-stopper’s maiden call-up to the senior national team.
“Congratulations to Arthur Okonkwo on receiving his first call up to the Nigeria squad ahead of the Unity Cup,” the club posted on its official social media platforms.
Okonkwo, who has enjoyed an impressive season with Wrexham, is expected to be part of the Super Eagles delegation that will compete in the Unity Cup, scheduled to take place in London later this month.
The tournament offers Nigeria the opportunity to blend home-based and overseas talents as they prepare for future assignments, with Okonkwo’s inclusion marking a significant milestone in the young goalkeeper’s career.
Wrexham fans and football enthusiasts across Nigeria will be closely watching the goalkeeper’s progress as he aims to make his mark on the international stage during the London-based competition.
