Usman Abdallah Steps Down as Kano Pillars Head Coach
By Niyi Busari
Kano Pillars Football Club has announced the departure of Technical Adviser Usman Abdallah, who has stepped down from his role with immediate effect following a mutual agreement with the club’s management, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
In a statement released to BSN Sports, the club confirmed that Abdallah tendered his resignation, citing personal reasons and the emergence of a significant professional opportunity that, according to him, would be difficult to manage alongside his responsibilities at the club.
“Coach Abdallah informed the management of a new commitment that would require his full attention. After thorough discussions, it was mutually agreed that stepping aside was in the best interest of both parties and the future of the club,” the statement read.
Appointed shortly before the start of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, Abdallah led Sai Masu Gida to a solid 9th-place finish, securing 53 points from 38 matches — an improvement of six points from the previous campaign.
In an emotional audio message addressed to supporters, Abdallah expressed his appreciation and explained the reasons behind his decision. “Due to an important development in my career, I have decided to step down as Technical Adviser of this great club. I had earlier informed the Chairman, and we mutually agreed this was the best decision moving forward. “Though I am leaving my position, I remain a proud supporter of Kano Pillars and will always be available to offer advice or assistance. This club means a lot to me.”
He also paid tribute to the fans, calling them the “heartbeat” of the team. “What I’ll miss the most are the fans — their passion and loyalty were among the key reasons I accepted this role. Thank you for everything.”
Club Chairman, Ali Muhammad Umar, expressed gratitude on behalf of the club, praising Abdallah’s professionalism and dedication during his tenure.
“We sincerely thank Coach Usman Abdallah for his contributions and leadership. He brought stability and direction to the team, and we wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors,” the chairman stated.
Kano Pillars is expected to announce a new head coach in the coming days as preparations begin for the upcoming season.
