After dethroning the former champion at UFC 278, UFC welterweight champion, Leon Edwards has revealed that the trilogy fight against Kamaru Usman will take place in March of next year.

In August, Edwards completed one of the greatest comebacks in MMA history by knocking out the former Welterweight champion and pound-for-pound king with a thunderous head kick with less than a minute remaining in the fight while he was down in rounds.

It was Usman’s first knockout loss since beginning his MMA career in 2012.

“Having it back in Birmingham in Villa – I grew up in Aston, where the Park is, so that would be incredible.” I don’t believe Villa has a roof, so it would be more difficult to do in early next year, around March.”

After Leon Edwards was crowned Welterweight champion, there was speculation about a possible grudge match between him and Jorge Masvidal, as the two have a long history. But it appears that those discussions will be put on hold so that Kamaru Usman can get an immediate rematch.
