Victor Anichebe Denies Calling For Lampard's Sack

By Oluwayemi Omolagba

Contrary to reports earlier in circulation about Victor Anichebe calling for Frank Lampard to be sacked after what seems to be a divided dressing room with visible shows among the players during their defeat on Tuesday, the former Nigerian international has denied saying such, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The defeat to Burnley is one of the many Everton has seen under the turtulage of Frank Lampard with the team now a serious relegation contender with nine games to the end of the season.

This has led to the questioning of the former English player's ability to manage the Toffees with some calling for his sack despite staying not too long on the job and Nigeria's Victor Anichebe was quoted to be one of them but he's now cleared the air.

“I wasn’t even gonna speak on this but I genuinely can’t stand some media. I didn’t call for Lampard to be sacked, Anichebe said.

“I posted the same Allardyce picture weeks ago as I find him on the phone funny because any team that’s in trouble he gets linked to [those who follow me know this already] anyway, the reactions were funny [e.g rather go down with dignity] so I posted it again.

“Then I said something needs to change. How does that mean that Lamps should be sacked? Change of mentality, training change, change of style. I’m not a manager, how do I know?.''

Everton who parades the services of Nigeria international Alex Iwobi are in danger of getting relegated after occupying the 17th place on the log with 9 games left and also having relatively one of the toughest fixtures of all the teams trying to beat the drop
