Victor Osimhen Scores 100th Career Goal
Victor Osimhen scored his 100th career goal on Friday night during Napoli’s 2-0 win against Sassuolo, becoming one of the five fastest players to accomplish the feat.
Scoring in his 197th cap, the Nigerian has racked up his century faster than Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and with incredible flair, too, hitting the ball past the goalkeeper from an impossible angle just off the baseline.
For comparison, World Cup winner Argentina's Lionel Messi scored his century after 210 games, while Ronaldo, the world’s top scorer, bagged his ton after 301 games.
After making his professional debut with Wolfsburg in 2017, Osimhen spent time at RSC Charleroi and Lille, before moving to Napoli in 2020, where he would score 47 goals for the Serie A side in just 85 games.
Eighteen of those goals would come this season, with the 24-year-old now sitting six goals clear at the top of the Serie A Golden Boot ladder, while his side aren’t doing too bad either: topping the Italian first division thanks to his goalscoring form.

In fact, he has arguably been instrumental in Napoli’s rise to the top, scoring in all of Napoli’s previous seven league games, helping them go unbeaten since the first week of January.
His prolific start to his career means he now ranks as the third fastest player to score 100 career goals.
But two big names stand before him, one being World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe, who achieved his century after 180 games.
And the other, who heads the account, is none other than Erling Haaland, from Manchester City, whose scoring streak at Borussia Dortmund, RB Salzburg and Molde helped him surpass his ton after just 146 games.
The 24-year-old currently ranks as the top scorer in Serie A, leading the way by six goals.

Mbappe – 180
Osimhen – 197
Messi – 210
Ibrahimovic – 245
Meanwhile, Osimhen’s record-breaking feats mean he will no doubt have increased in value, but he will now also be the number one target for many clubs across Europe.
One of them is Manchester United, who ‘are eyeing a move’ for the Napoli striker later in the summer, which could see Erik ten Hag’s side bid a whopping £107m to secure his services.
