Violence Disrupts Esperance vs JS Kabylie in CAF Champions League for Forty Minutes

Violence broke out at the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi in Radés, Tunisia during the quarterfinal second leg game between Esperance Tunis and JS Kabylie of Algeria bsnsports.com.ng can report.

The game was suspended for approximately forty minutes before the second half commenced, after a clash ensued between Esperance fans and security agents, as the fans lit up the terraces with fireworks which needed the intervention of fire fighters on the scene.

The game which went down on Saturday, 29th of April saw Esperance qualify for the Semis with a 2-1 aggregate scoreline, after both teams drew 1-1 amidst the turmoil, with a 49th-minute goal from Ben Romdhane for the home side, and an 89th-minute equalizer by Kabylie's Adem Redjem.

A court spokesman told Diwan FM radio station, an indigenous media outlet in Tunisia of about 66 arrests, 12 of whom were minors, with local reports also stating the stadium was looted with some equipments, including a chainsaw stolen.

"We can confirm the arrest of a fan holding the chainsaw," an anonymous source from the ministry told Reuters.

Esperance Tunis will face Al Ahly of Egypt in the semifinal after the latter went past Raja Casablanca with two goals to nil over two legs.
