Volleyball: 21 players resume camp ahead of 13th African Games

A total number of 21 (women) players have resumed camp ahead of the 2023 African Games in Ghana, according to the Nigeria Volleyball Federation.

The Federal Ministry of Sports Development opened camp for all athletes participating in the Africa Games on February 15th.

Topping the list of players are: Ijeoma Ukpabi, Aisha Umaru, Comfort Amaouwu, Jummai Bitrus and Albertina Francis. The duo of Aisha Bello and Mmesomachi Okekearu are still expected in camp.

Coach Samuel Ajayi led the women’s team to fourth place at the 12th African Games in Morocco and is looking forward to bettering his position next month in Ghana.

Ajayi said the players have been in camp bankrolled by the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod before the commencement of the second phase.

He revealed that the camp by the ministry of sports will be to correct some of the lapses observed at the first camp.

The 13th edition of the All Africa Games which will be hosted by Ghana will start next month.
