Defending champions, Kano Pillars will face 2021 National Division 1 League champions, Kada Kings in the opening match of the 2022 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 2022 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League is scheduled for 14th to 26th September 2022 at the indoor sports hall of Akure, Ondo State capital.

Former Champions, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) will trade tackles with Sunshine Spikers while NSCDC faces Nigeria Police Force.

In a local derby, youthful OFFA VC will begin their campaign against newly promoted Kwara United VC while Nigeria Correctional Service tests their firepower against Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Spikers led by coach Elishama Elam.

In the women's category, Kada Emeralds will be hoping to make a statement against Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), experienced Nigeria Immigration Service with the longest serving volleyball player, Dorathy Egbim will face Benue Queens; two newly promoted sides, Kwara United and Zamfara Queens will slug it out in the third women's match while defending champions, NSCDC faces a strong opponent, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Spikers in the last match of Day 1.

The Technical Representative on the board of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Martin Melandri revealed that five male and four female matches will be played on Day 1 (Thursday).

Melandri added that the new FIVB rules will be applied in this year's Premier League matches as agreed by the coaches, referees and stakeholders.
