W’Cup Qualifiers: Yellow Greens Captain Reflects On Heavy Defeat To Namibia

Nigeria’s senior men’s cricket captain, Sylvester Okpe, has admitted that poor bowling execution cost the Yellow Greens in their heavy 117-run loss to Namibia at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian side, buoyed by their opening-day victory over Malawi on Friday, struggled to contain a dominant Namibian team in their second group fixture at the Harare Sports Club, Zimbabwe.

Speaking after the game, Okpe credited Namibia’s performance but stressed that Nigeria would bounce back stronger.

“We didn’t execute our bowling the way we wanted, and that put us on the back foot,” he said.

“When a game goes that way, you always feel you could have done more. But there were positives Danladi bowled really well, and we showed some intensity in our batting. We’ll carry those into the next match.”
