WAFCON 2024: Black Queens Begin Preparations As Super Falcons Stall

As preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) intensify, Ghana’s Black Queens have taken a major step forward by inviting 32 players to a nine-day training camp, BSNSports.com.ng reports

The camp will run from May 3 to May 12 at the Ghanaian Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

It will provide head coach Kim Lars Björkegren with an opportunity to assess both domestic and foreign-based talents, helping to shape the final squad for the tournament in Morocco.

In contrast, Nigeria’s Super Falcons remain in a state of uncertainty, having yet to kick off their WAFCON preparations.

Under interim head coach Justin Madugu, the team has neither opened a training camp nor capitalized on the recent FIFA international window to play a friendly match.

Both Ghana and Nigeria are aiming for a strong performance at WAFCON as they seek to reclaim dominance in African women’s football.
