WAFCON 2024: Madugu Provides Update On Injured Echegini

Super Falcons head coach, Justin Madugu, has provided an update on midfielder Jennifer Echegini who picked up an injury during Nigeria’s hard-fought 2-1 victory over South Africa in the semifinals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Dutch-born midfielder, who has been instrumental to the team’s run to the final, was forced off in the second half after sustaining a knock and was replaced by Christy Ucheibe, sparking concerns about her availability for the final clash against Morocco.

 “She had a slight knock and will need to be assessed by the medical team. We’ll get a report from them to determine the extent of the injury,” Madugu said.

He added that the medical report will guide the team’s decision on her participation in the final.
