WAFCON 2024: Ordega Sets Super Falcons’ Target

Francisca Ordega is confident the Super Falcons can reclaim their continental crown after a disappointing outing at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The West Africans fell short in Morocco in 2022, losing three matches and finishing in fourth place — their worst performance in years.

Justine Madugu’s team now have an opportunity for redemption when the 2024 WAFCON finals kick off in Morocco next month. The nine-time champions are placed in Group B alongside Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria.

Ordega made it clear that the team’s aim is to bring the trophy back home.

“The target is to win, of course. You can’t go into a battle expecting to lose, so the objective is to win and bring back the trophy,” the Al-Ittihad Ladies winger told Bold Sports.

Nigeria’s opening match is against Tunisia at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Sunday, July 6.
