WAFCON 2024: SAFA Provides Update On Gabriela Salgado’s Injury

The Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) semi-final clash between South Africa and Nigeria, which ended 2-1 in favour of the Super Falcons, was marred by a horrific injury to Banyana Banyana star Gabriela Salgado, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

South African Football Association (SAFA) chief medical officer, Dr. Thulani Ngwenya, has provided an update on the midfielder’s condition.

 “Gabby sustained a serious injury during the game and was rushed to the hospital immediately after the incident for further assessment and management,” Dr. Ngwenya said.

He added that the full extent of the injury is still being determined, assuring that a comprehensive update will be provided once all medical evaluations in Morocco are concluded.
