WAFCON 2024: South Africa Unveils Final Squad As Star Player Kgatlana Withdraws

Ahead of the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis has unveiled her final squad for the tournament, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
South Africa is placed in Group C alongside Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania for the competition, which runs from July 6–27, 2025.
However, they will be without one of their star players, Thembi Kgatlana. The striker, who had initially been named in the preliminary squad, has withdrawn for personal reasons, as confirmed by the South African Football Association (SAFA).
Kgatlana, a former African Women's Footballer of the Year, will miss the tournament.
Banyana Banyana will depart for Morocco this week, with their campaign kicking off against Ghana's Black Queens on July 7 in Oujda, as they look to defend their title.
Goalkeepers: Kaylin Swart, Andile Dlamini, Dineo Magagula and Casey Gordon.
Defenders: Lebohang Ramalepe, Fikile Magama, Gabriela Salgado, Tiisetso Makhubela, Bambanani Mbane, Karabo Dhlamini and Lonathemba Mhlongo.
Midfielders: Bongeka Gamede, Sibulele Holweni, Linda Motlhalo, Nonhlanhla Mthandi, Refiloe Jane, Amogelang Motau, Regina Mogolola and Noxolo Cesane.
Forwards: Adrielle Mibe, gaelebane Mohlakoana, Hildah Magaia, Jermaine Seoposenwe, Nthabiseng Majiya, Bonolo Mokoma and Ronnel Donnely.
