Nigeria's Super Falcons' Group B opponent, Algeria, endured a disappointing setback in their preparations for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat to Senegal on Tuesday evening, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The loss comes just four days before the tournament kicks off in Morocco, raising concerns within the Algerian camp.

Despite a goalless first half, the Algerian side collapsed in the second half.

Senegal's Nguenar Ndiaye broke the deadlock in the 56th minute, opening the floodgates for the Lionesses.

Hapsatou Malado Diallo doubled the lead in the 67th minute, while Ndèye Awa Casset sealed the emphatic victory five minutes later.

Algeria will begin their WAFCON campaign against Botswana on Sunday before facing Nigeria's Super Falcons in their second group match.
