WAFCON 2024: Super Falcons Crush Tunisia
Sampson Adedeji
Nigeria's Super Falcons sent a strong message to their rivals with a dominant 3-0 victory over Tunisia in their opening match at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The nine-time African champions wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Asisat Oshoala opening the scoring early in the game.
Debutant Rinsola Babajide doubled Nigeria's advantage just before halftime, slotting home in the 44th minute to put the Falcons firmly in control at the break.
Tunisia showed more determination in the second half and managed to keep the Nigerians at bay for long spells. However, their resistance was eventually broken in the 83rd minute when Chinwendu Ihezuo sealed the win with Nigeria’s third goal.
Despite Tunisia's late efforts to find a consolation, the Super Falcons held firm to secure a convincing 3-0 victory.
