The final Group B fixture of the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations between Nigeria and Algeria is now uncertain, following allegations of rule violations by the Algerian team, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Group B comprises Nigeria, Algeria, Botswana, and Tunisia.

Reports from Morocco indicate that Algeria may have breached CAF statutes during the ongoing tournament. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed it has launched an investigation into the matter.

In an official statement, CAF said: "The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has opened an investigation against the Algerian Women’s National Team on alleged violations of the CAF Statutes and Regulations during the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2024.

CAF will not make any further comment on the matter until the process is finalized."

Should the North Africans be found guilty, they risk facing hefty sanctions or possible expulsion from the competition.
