The Football Association of Zambia has concluded plans to organise a preparatory mini-tournament for the country’s senior women’s national team, the Shepolopolo, ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Zambia, who are drawn in the same group as Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Egypt, and Malawi, will use the competition as part of their build-up to the continental showpiece.
The mini-tournament is scheduled to take place in Lusaka from June 6 to June 9, 2026, with three invited teams Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Burkina Faso set to participate.
According to the Zambian football authorities, the tournament is aimed at sharpening the team’s tactical cohesion and overall match fitness ahead of the WAFCON campaign, where they are expected to be one of the contenders.
The development sets the stage for a competitive group phase at the tournament in Morocco, with the Super Falcons expected to face a well-prepared Zambian side.
